Job Description: SRM Concrete Custodians are part of the Building Operations department and is an individual contributor responsible for performing general housekeeping and cleaning duties at the SRM Concrete Headquarters. Cleanliness is an utmost priority as it ensures the safety of team and visitors. In this role, you will help ensure the building is well kept and presentable. This position reports directly to the Building Supervisor.


Position: SRM Custodian



  • Perform general cleaning duties.
  • Empty trash containers.
  • Dust and polish furniture.
  • Inspect areas for cleanliness, mechanical failures, and other inappropriate conditions.
  • Notify supervisor when maintenance repairs are needed.
  • Maintain individual custodial closet supplies inventory.
  • Request supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Turn on and off lights and assigned equipment.
  • Cleans and maintains all floors, carpets, furniture, and fixtures.
  • Washes windows, walls, blinds, rails, and air vents.
  • Performs minor building and fixture repairs.
  • Sanitizes, cleans, and restocks restrooms.
  • Move furniture as necessary for cleaning.
  • Clean appliances (when requested).
  • Pick-up and deliver supplies to various departmental floors.
  • Perform trash removal functions and recyclables.
  • Salts and shovels snow and ice.
  • Perform custodial duties for meetings and events.
  • Respond to custodial emergency calls (if on call).
  • Checks for signs of break-ins or attempted break-ins and vandalism.
  • May move, load, or unload heavy objects, supplies, or other materials.
  • Possess a "GO-GETTER" mentality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Valid Driver License
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred but not required)
  • Basic knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work
  • Previous custodial, housekeeping experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to use simple hand and power tools and equipment
  • Ability to follow simple written and oral instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Customer Service driven attitude is necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Eighth Grade Education and three (3) years of general custodial and/or maintenance experience.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday – Saturday
  • Overtime


Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift/carry up to 50lbs regularly
  • Generally, indoor setting work; would need to collect and dispense rubbish in designated outdoor bins.
  • Wears protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations.
  • Will be exposed to various cleaning chemicals.


Pay rates are based upon experience and will be discussed in a face-to-face interview.
